Kindling was inspired by a trip around Canada in a campervan in the summer of 2005 and launched in Bath in 2006.
Founder Rod Bond loved the neighbourhood cafes of Canada with their fresh coffee, simple menus and individual style. They were a far cry from the ubiquitous chains churning out buckets of so-so frothy coffee.
Back in the UK, Rod hastened his decision to quit London (he’d run an award-winning restaurant and bar for over a decade) and relocate to Bath. The Kindling Coffee Company, named after the kindling he used to start up his fire and brew coffee while campervaning in Canada, opened on Bath Half Marathon Weekend in March 2006 and has built up a loyal local following ever since.
